A house above the river

Nine rooms in a restored quinta at Pinhão, with terraced vines to the water and a kitchen that cooks what the valley grows.

Nine rooms, no two alike

Linen, shutters, and a valley you can hear from the bed.

Stay a while

Maison Lumière was a working quinta for two hundred years before it was anything else. We kept the granite, the shutters and the long table, and added nine rooms, hot water and very good coffee.

There is no reception desk. Someone will meet you at the gate.

A low-lit sitting room with deep armchairs drawn up to an open fire

The lounge

Two sofas, a wood fire from October, and the shelf of paperbacks other guests left behind. Breakfast is served here when the terrace is too cold.

The table

One sitting, one menu, at eight. Everybody eats together. It is the part of the week most guests write to us about afterwards.

We came for two nights and moved the rest of the trip around so we could stay four.
