Years on Bold Street

A letterpress with a forme of metal type locked into the bed

We print the ones nobody else would

The press in the back room is a 1962 Heidelberg and it is the reason this is a publisher and not just a shop. Four titles a year, short runs, paid up front so the artist is not waiting on our cash flow.

If you have twenty finished pages and no idea what to do with them, bring them in on a Tuesday.

The four titles

I came in for one thing and left ninety minutes later having been talked out of it and into something better.

How the shop works

Wednesday, from eight

New books land Tuesday night and go out at eight on Wednesday. Come before work; there is coffee and it is free.

Pull lists are free

Tell us what you read and we will hold it for a fortnight. No deposit, no minimum, no sulking if you drop a title.

The fifty-pence box

Restocked every Friday from whatever did not sell. It is genuinely fifty pence and there is no second, more expensive box.

We post anywhere

Boarded, bagged and in a stiff mailer. Second class is £3.20 and goes out the same afternoon if you order before two.

Bring us twenty pages

We read everything that comes in and we answer everything, even when the answer is no. Tuesdays are for that.
